Practical cases

MCAP has been providing all kinds of companies and organisations with custom solutions for cable and glass-fibre assemblies since 1987. To give you an impression of the innovative capacity and cooperative approach of our engineers, we provide a number of practical examples here.

Bosch Packaging Technology BV

Bosch Packaging Technology BV (previously Tevopharm) is a leading manufacturer of horizontal packaging machines, also referred to as ‘flow wrappers’. Flow wrappers from Bosch Packaging Technology are mainly used in the food and pharmaceutical industries, throughout the world. Candy bars, sweets and medicines are packaged at up to 2000 pieces per minute. With such enormous speeds, Tevopharm packaging machines are the fastest of their kind.

Besides high operating speeds and excellent quality, Bosch Packaging Technology also provides excellent service. Ronald Wever: ‘With the high speed of our machines, even a brief malfunction can be very costly for our customers. This is why whenever an emergency malfunction occurs during extended office hours we respond immediately from our Bosch Packaging Technology site. In order to also respond adequately outside office hours, a global network of service hubs has been established in collaboration with parent organisation Robert Bosch GmbH and various sister companies. As part of this international collaborative group we are able to serve our customers in an extremely effective manner, anywhere in the world.’

Within Bosch Packaging Technology, MCAP has been the supplier of two specific cable assemblies and two types of glass-fibre cables for the servo drive on the machines for many years. ‘We regard MCAP as a supplier that provides added value. They deliver quickly and, naturally, with the desired quality. When it comes to standard lengths, it would be fair to say they deliver exceedingly quickly. Moreover, they are knowledgeable about their products. Every question is always substantially answered, accompanied by a detailed explanation. They demonstrate clearly that they completely comprehend the problem we are faced with. We recently asked them to come up with a solution to reduce the vulnerability of the glass-fibre cables. MCAP studied the problem thoroughly and proposed various solutions to make the cables less flexible. We looked at the options ourselves and chose a solution that is now already being used. By limiting the flexibility of the glass-fibre cables our machines have been made more robust.’
